HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE OF THE NAVY ITS PRESENT IN IQUIQUE’S TSUNAMI DRILL

           
          On Wednesday June 30th at 12:15 hrs. and 14:00 hrs. Started the Tsunami drill in the city of Iquique. At the time was proceeded to the mass evacuation of the coastal population with the support of staff belonging to the Fourth naval Zone.

         Prior to the implementation of this activity, SHOA coordinated with ONEMI, central (Santiago) the activities designed to transmit timely the warning and times of arrival of RESPECTIVES waves. In order to support the drill, the Service covered with staff on duty in the operating room of the Nacional Tsunamis Warning System (SNAM). Besides It also kept in touch by satellital phone with the Governor’s Maritime of Iquique.
