SECOND MEETING OF TIDES AND WATER LEVELS WORKING GROUP OF THE INTERNATIONAL HYDROGRAPHIC ORGANIZATION AND TECHNICAL MEETINGS IN AANDERAA DATA INSTRUMENTS

           
          Between April 27 and May 1, 2010, were made in units of the Hydrographic Service of Norway, located in the city of Stavanger, the Second Meeting of the Tides and Water Levels Working Group (TWLWG) of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and Technical Meetings in Aanderaa Data Instruments (AADI) , located in the city of Bergen, Norway.

          The TWLWG is composed of experts on tides from the hydrographic services and related organizations, belonging to the OHI Member States. On behalf of Chile, attended EC Mr. Juan Fierro C., Chief of the Physical Oceanography section of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA).

          The work agenda of TWLWG considered various presentations by the delegates present and the analyze of various issues related to the tide. In particular, they highlighted the matters relating to the definition of standards for digital tide tables and data transmission in real time; aspects that were debated and linked to the dynamic aplication of the tides in nautic electronic charting systems displayed by ECDIS ( Electronic Chart Display and Information System). Subsequently, It’s been reviewed the tecnichal resolucion and the cartographic specifications issued by the OHI, which has direct relevance to aspects of tides.
          At time, the technical meetings made on AADI, led to know the recent technological advances and the process of production of oceanographic and meteorological instruments developed by the citaded firm, also considered a site visit to the Vatlestraumen station, Bergen, installed in a narrow place of particular interest for navigation, which has a current profiler and data transmission in real time.
