On February 7th of this year, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, began the Bicentennial Regatta "Sails South America 2010". On this occasion, Training Ship Esmeralda of the Chilean Navy, together with other 11 great sailing ships from different countries will sail the South American, Caribbean and Central American coasts, finishing this crossing in June 28th at the Mexican Port of Veracruz.

Jeppesen Marine Company in tandem with the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA) works since 2008, in the manufacture of Marine Pilotage Charts (MPC), for the main purpose of giving support to navigation based on the official information contained in nautical charts and publications. It is worth noting these charts are worldwide the first of their kind.

For this important event, Jeppesen Marine with the cooperation of SHOA prepared a special set of MPCs, in order to provide support to the navigation of sailing ships participating at this Bicentennial Regatta. The Director of the Maritime Industry of Jeppesen, Mr. Michael BERGMANN personally gave these charts to the Units in competition.
