VIRGIN OF CARMEN IMAGE VISITS THE HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE OF THE NAVY

Due to the one-hundred celebration of the Military Bishopric of Chile, the pilgrimage of the Blessed Virgin of Carmen has been taking place around Units and Departments of the Navy.

On January 29th at 11:00 hrs., the image of the Virgin, coming from the Directorate of Maritime Interests and Aquatic Environment (DIRINMAR), was handed over by its Director Rear Admiral LT Ricardo BÖKE F., to the Director of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA), Captain Mariano ROJAS B.

The procession integrated by personnel of SHOA began at the front of the Service building heading toward part of its facilities.  Chaplain, First Lieutenant Rl., Rafael PROVIDELL M. welcomed the “Pilgrim Virgin” and encouraged the faithful ones to visit her at the altar placed at the Department’s Room for Events, and subsequently gave his blessing to all those who are part of the Service.

The image of the Virgin will remain at the Department until February 2nd, date in which a delegation from SHOA will hand it over to the Maritime Authority of Valparaíso, in order for the image to continue its visit to other Units and Departments throughout the country.
