SHOA, successor of the Hydrographic Office, evokes in its Historical Exhibition Room the beginnings of nautical geographic knowledge in Chile, which has its origin and development in the hydrographic activities of its War Marine. The Historical Exhibition room has seven rooms where hydrography, oceanography and cartography material is found. There is graphic material, old nautical instruments, binnacles, sextants, barometer, amongst others, scale-models, pictures, bibliographic material and reproductions of vessels in which hydrographic and oceanographic works have taken place, by those pioneers of national hydrography who are part of the gallery of outstanding hydrographers.
