Between October 11 and November 19, took place the CIMAR 17 Fjords Cruise, organized by the National Oceanographic Committee (CONA) which was carried out in X Region of Los Lagos, between fjord Reloncaví (41°40’ S, 72°24’ W) and Boca del Guafo (43°49’ S, 74°23’ W) on board the Scientific Vessel Abate Molina from the Institute of Fisheries Development (IFOP). Cruise Chiefs were Mr. Mario CÁCERES S. and Gubbler OTÁROLA B., both from the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA).

During the development of this cruise,9 Research Projects from institutions members of CONA participated such as Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Universidad de Concepción (UdecC), Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), Universidad de Chile (UCh) and Universidad de Valparaíso (UV), covering with their studies different oceanography areas. During the cruise a total of 22 oceanographic stations were covered including Petrohué, Cochamó and Puelo rivers, and carried out biological, physical, chemical sampling in each. As well as studies regarding the biological process in the areas of Estero Reloncaví, Desertores island and to the south of Apiao island.
