CHILEAN NAVY HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE

On November 10 and 11, took place the Workshop of Preliminary Results of CIMAR 16 Fjords Cruice, in order to inform the results of researches made. The activity was presided by the Director of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA) and President of the National Oceanographic Committee (CONA) Captain Patricio CARRASCO H., who in his inaugural speech, highlighted the characteristic of being the first cruise carried out in a no naval unit, since AGOR 60 Vidal Gormaz had step off in August of last year, thank to the strong will of the Navy to continue with the Program, which together with the Institute for Fisheries Depvelopment (IFOP) excelent readiness, allowed renting the Scientific Vessel Abate Molina, appropriate platform for the fullfilment of CIMAR objectives.

During the workshop, several presentations were carried out on physical, chemical, biological and geological oceanography, ending on Friday with a Round Table and the Workshop Closing Ceremony. On this opportunity were given the Scolarships of CIMAR Program Titling Projects year 2011 to Mrs. Susana Sandoval from Universidad de Concepción (UDEC), Mr. Pablo CORDOVA from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) and Mr. Eduardo ESCALONA from UDEC.
