CHILEAN NAVY HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE

A group of Officers and staffing from the Psh 77 "Corneta Cabrales" visited the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy under the supervision of Lieutenant Commander Enrique Silva Sanguinetti. The group was welcomed by the Assistant Director, Commander Enrique Silva Villagra.

The visit began with a presentation on the functioning of the service, highlighting the History, organization, and the main activities as well as the products that the service elaborates.

Subsequently, the delegation took a tour of the premises of the Hydrographic department, where they got a first hand look at the process of making the nautical chart. The tour ended in the operations room of the national tsunami warning system in which they got to know the National Tsunami warning system, its operation during the 24 hours of the day, and the advances and improvements made after the 2010 Tsunami.
