CHILEAN NAVY HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE

The technological progresses and the need to implement new and better tools for the navigational services has been transformed into a challenge for the Research and Projects Division of the Department of Information Technologies of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA), which after months of work developed the first app for mobile devices.

“Tides, Light and Darkness” was the name given to this app, which through the GPS of the devices detects which is the nearest port to the user’s location and shows all the information based on localization and time of the device, providing information on tide and the exact time for high or low tide. It also provides light information and darkness for the same port.

This version delivers all the information of the ongoing, previous and next month and it is already available for the mobile devices running on IOS or Android, for their version 3.0 and up, and can be found on the App Store and Google Play, respectively.
