CHILEAN NAVY HYDROGRAPHIC AND OCEANOGRAPHIC SERVICE

On December 9th, in the Yard of Honor of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA), it took place the Military Ceremony for the Closing of the Academic Year and Graduation of the Hydrography and Oceanography Officers Category “A” and the Hydrographic Surveyor and Oceanographer Mechanic class for Seamen, year 2014.

The activity was presided over by the Director and the Head of the Centre, Rear admiral Patricio Carrasco and was attended by the Naval Attaches from Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and the Safety and Defense Attaché from Panama.

During the ceremony the director of the Service emphasized the work done by the Centre of Instruction of the SHOA which “is proud to be part of the most important schools to specialize in Hydrography and Oceanography in the continent, where year after year many specialists graduate with a high professional and technical level, with solid knowledge and able to perform on board as well as on land, contributing to the fulfillment of the Mission and its strengthening , and also to the development of the institution and the country”.

Rear admiral Carrasco asked the graduates to be the promoters of the new actions that will lead Hydrography and Oceanography to its highest level of development.

After his words, some students were acknowledged for their performance: sailor Camila Quiero and Lieutenant Commander from the Colombian Navy Mr. Gustavo Gutiérrez, who were the best students in their courses. Finally, certificates were given to four Sailors and six Student Officers, five of them from Foreign Navies.
