As part of the activities contemplated in the program Educacion de Mar (Sea Education) carried out by the Foundation Mar de Chile, on Tuesday May 24, a delegation of teachers led by the General Manager of the Foundation Mr. Allan Youlton Bascur visited the premises of the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA).

The group was welcomed by the Deputy Director of the Service, Captain Mr. Enrique Silva Villagra, who gave a presentation about the duties of the Division, emphasizing the contribution for the country from the hydrographic work done and that can be seen through the production of Nautical Charts and Publications, whose main purpose is to provide safety in navigation. Additionally, the Deputy Director talked about the National Tsunami Warning System (SNAM), and took them on a visit to the Office of Operations where he explained more in detail the dynamics and technological equipment that the SHOA uses when facing an emergency.
