In the morning of Wednesday, October 1st, the Comptroller General of the Defense of Spain Major General Mr. Angel Méndez, visited the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy (SHOA), accompanied by the Comptroller of the Navy, Rear admiral Mr. Cristián Mella.

Upon arrival, the foreign authority in company of the Colonel Comptroller Mr. Carlos Teresa and the Colonel Comptroller Mr. Santiago López were received by the Deputy Director of the Service, Captain Mr. Cristián Díaz, who welcomed them and invited them on a tour of the Operations Room of the National Tsunami Warning System (SNAM) and the Time Station.

This visit was part of the Cooperation and Friendship Treaty, signed in 1990 between Chile and Spain, when the Cooperation Protocol was signed between both Ministries of Defense, in which both countries declare their intention of promoting , through the General Accounting Office of the Navy of the Republic of Chile and the General Accounting Office of the Defense of Spain, the development of common projects in terms of internal control, and specially in matters concerning auditing, regulations and information systems that applied to both countries.

Once the tour was finished, General Méndez was invited to sign the Book for Renown Visitors of the Service, where he expressed his gratitude and his excellent impression of the daily work done by the Institution.
